For Valhalla users - If you were going to get one of the Valhalla reverbs, which would be the first to get knowing what you know now?

Not a user anymore.

I would get none, based on other reverbs available.

Some say Valhalla is good value...but If you never use it.

Cool, thanks for all the feedback, even the non-use one!

Those are the ones I was thinking about most - room, plate, and shimmer. It will be interesting to see if the room and plate sounds are better than what I have around....especially the plate, since I'm not too satisfied with any current plate patches I have, plugin or rack. If room is really convincing, it will be great.

As far as shimmer goes, I find the concept very interesting.

I wound up getting the Valhalla Plate, and it's been very nice. One thing that is a pleasant surprise, is how much I like it on clean D.I guitar.

It is definitely a nice alternative to typical fake plates, whether they be plugin or rack.

I just bought vintage room myself. I will end up with all of them eventually. Bang for the buck is just so good. Between valhalla and stillwell it is incredible what you get for the money.

I own everything but Shimmer. I probably use Ubermod the most. I love the delays on there, and you can get really weird with dubs and sound design.

The only thing that bums me out about his plugins is that the Pro Tools automation shortcut I use doesn't work. On most plugins (avid/waves/slate/soundtoys/etc), if you control+option+command+click on a parameter, a little window pops up that allows you to enable that parameters automation. And then if you control+command+click on that parameter, it changes the track's view to that automation parameter. I am constantly hitting those two key commands on plugins to automate. This doesn't work on any of his plugins. Or the PSP plugs.

Sean is WELL aware of this shortcoming in his plug-ins; there's a good chance that the latest version of the JUCE framework on which his and many other plug-ins are built will allow for this to be incorporated. I know this because we talk every day about development and he was in my studio for 8 hours yesterday. image

Darn... I downloaded the demos of what I don't have, and now I want Room and Ubermod too. Haven't tested VintageVerb and Shimmer yet.

The Room is more useful than I thought it would be. Way more things packed in there than I realized. Weird that it has some plate sounds stuffed in there too, unexpected.

The feedback type sounds that Ubermod can get are very interesting... I was able to get an acoustic guitar to sort of sound like it was feeding back. Not just the sort of "synth pad reverb" sound that I already knew it could do. Some stuff reminded me of the results of complex routing with hardware - SuperEgo pedal + other effects. But available for as many instances as you can run, and with all the parameters you'd want right there.

With Ubermod, I wish that in addition to the flange type settings, that there was a way to also have an envelope filter (e.g "auto wah") or micro synth type octave effects, right in the same area of the plugin. Then it could totally replace some hardware routing things I do.

As Archie Bunker would ask, "Is that a Froodian slip?".

My favorite Archie Bunkerism: Incrimation - that's when instead of burying you they burn you up and put your ashes in a silver urinal....
