For perspective:

Based on inflation statistics, if this guitar had been introduced when the original Les Paul was introduced in 1952, it would've retailed for $10.68

Perfect for acts that like to destroy their instruments at the end of their show... especially in today's economy.

This brings about an interesting thought that hadn't occurred to me-- do people still do this? I think the last time I personally saw someone destroy an instrument onstage as part of the show was at least 15 years ago. Which doesn't mean it doesn't still happen, but... maybe such a thing will become one of those things about the 20th century that future generations won't understand.

The Les Paul Jr type Epiphone used to have a street price of just under $100 in recent years.

I have a Gibson Melody Maker along the lines of what this appears to be based on that's pretty sweet.

Brad, I remember seeing a performance by arcade Fire on SNL probably about 10 yars ago where a guitar was smashed at the end of a song. I was a bit shocked, as it seemed like such a dated and contrived thing to do. I assumed at the time that it must have been an "ironic" smash. Anyway, that's the last one I can remember. Or maybe I imagined that one?
