I'm sure you've never moved the OH's around until you find the spot where they play nicely with the close mics.

Concert toms are becoming fashionable again. Just put your 57s underneath!

Obviously, if you don't want cymbals in your tom mics, you're going to have to raise them a bit. I don't recall how tight the pattern is on the 609, but it might fit in easily. For a combination of small-size and tight pickup, perhaps some Shure Beta 98s would be your best option.

Erm, M201s.

I moved the mics, not the files.

Jean, what do you think of the Sennheiser e604 and e904 Tom / Snare mics?

I'm seeing a lot of Technical Riders asking for them, and Luc at TSL was thinking of bringing the line in.
He just got a box of AKG clip on mic, which I used on Toms and Snare last show, save the BD, I used the Beta52.

Oddly I noticed the e906 and e935 have very similar response, and I suspect share the same capsule…. ?

Mario i used both the 604 and the 904 on the toms, i like both.I didn't see any major difference tone wise
( i know some will beg the difference )..........

I could see why they are used and ask on live venue, they are small , easy to position and are rugged.

All the 900 serrie and the 600 serie share some similarity ( capsule .electronic )

I do enjoy setting up and plugging things in with my assistant a few hours before the band arrives and doing a line test.
Then when the band turns up I'm 90% ready to go.
I do this regardless of clip on vs stand mics, but the clip ons are just less cumbersome to get into some kits.

A+

I really like the e906 that someone suggested here on guitar amps. So easy to get a nice tone. It seems Sennheiser is doing something right.

OK it's cold here
