I've been in Toronto this week working on the NBA Allstar game. It's an amazing amount of infrastructure, between all the events, games and entertainment (Cirque du Soleil, Sting, Ne-yo Etc.) over the next three days. Almost all the audio/video/data transport is over fiber. I'm happy to snap some shots and do a little write up if there's interest.

Here's an overview of the truck compound.
Tight is an understatement.
All these trucks were parked and powered over a 12 hour period overnight.
The trucks associated with audio ID as below:
SS24 A and B: Main game trucks.
NCP X A and B Saturday event trucks
ND-1 A and B Transmission trucks and executive viewing
NCP VIII A and B Entertainment trucks
NCP II  Studio Show
Dome truck World Feeds
Live Wire Music record truck.
Submix: Court FX and the Nexus Router "star". More to come on that later.

imageimageThis is the Protools playback and Riedel programming world. The Entertainment comms and TV comms 4 wire systems are interfaced old school analog style.

Literally dozens on comms are "swung" from truck to truck depending on whick truck needs them at any given moment.

As mentioned previously,
most of the mission critical audio is travelling through the Nexus router system
http://www.stagetec.com/en/audio-routing/nexus-star/overview.html

In each base device frame, cards are loaded to accomodate the needs of each location.
Most of the analog I/O is inside the venue. Multiple Madi streams to and from each truck allow each show to pick the resources that are needed. Laptop interfaces allow users to look at the system, adjust gains look at levels and apply tone to I/O's.image

Here's a shot of the main game truck.

The second image shows the nexus device on top, which has 32 x 16 analog I/O as well as two madi streams.
The bottom case houses the Riedel interfaces which connects the trucks ADAM matrix to the Riedel intercom.
The routing to and from the main game truck is pretty intense..... system designer and lead A1 Dave Grundtvig is no joke.
I'm simply responsible for the implimentation....
