Hi all ...

This is more cosmetic than scientific egg crate stuff: Following a recent cosmetic renovation, we need to replace the “acoustically transparent” fabric that covered sections of the walls. There are, of course, the usual suspects such as Guilford of Maine, RPG etc . But, I was wondering if there are any new products/thinking on this … or even more cost effective products?

Thanks ...

(PS I did do a forum search but was unable to locate a recent reference to this).

Hi,

There is no such thing as "acoustic fabric". But when writing "acoustically transparent" on thin fabric, then it's easy to add 50% to 100% extra margin...

Just look for a decent to good quality fire resistant fabric that isn't too thick (you can breathe and see a bit through) and you'll be all set.

Natural fibers are easier to work with, a bit more elastic.

Thank you gentlemen!

@jimlongo: unhappily I am in far away Australia ... and the room is shades of purple.
