My beloved Sennheise HD650 headphones fell apart. With a fair amount of trepidation I sent them back to Sennheiser for repair, and I paid the extra $50.00 for expedited service. UPS picked up the package Tuesday and just dropped off a new pair. It's Thursday at 2:00. Barely 48 hours turnaround - pretty damn good.

In other words, rather than actually doing a period-correct repair of your beloved vintage headphones they simply shipped you a pair or crass, new replacements that everyone knows are inferior?

Yes, exactly. The old ones weren't that old, and the new ones are fine, they're the sound I know. I'm happy.
