Has anyone got a good source for buying replacement shockmount cords?
We have several that need replaced, various designs and manufacturers. Always seems a challenge to get the correct tension when buying replacements.

Yep.  This is like the 3rd go 'round with this topic.  On at least a dozen mics, I have been using his silicone replacement bands on the shock mounts for around 5 years now (in medium-duty use).  Every once in a great while one will break, but generally they last and last and don't sag.  I don't remember the exact price, but it was VERY reasonable.

Cool. I did think I had read something here before but couldn't get anything on the search.
Need to speak to Jeff about a couple of parts anyway!

I use elastic cord I get from a marine supply store. It's cheap enough that if I don't get the size right I can just make another one. I crimp the ends together with large gauge wire splices.

I too am in need of some shock mount elastics for some prototype mics from long ago. How would I measure an aprox size?

There is a place close to me called "O-rings & Things" Anyone think automotive O-Rings would hold up? Or once they stretch out, they lose their memory/tension

For a Neumann 87 type mount I measure out enough to go loosely around the four arms with a little slack for the crimping collar. The tension that comes from looping around the hooks on the central part of the mount give enough tension to hold the mic tightly.

This looks like the stuff I used: http://www.homedepot.com/p/T-W-Evans-Cordage-1-8-in-x-50-ft-Elastic-Bungee-Shock-Cord-SC-108-050/205327126?cm_mmc=Shopping%7cTHD%7cG%7c0%7cG-BASE-PLA-D25H-Hardware%7c&gclid=Cj0KEQjwtu3GBRDY6ZLY1erL44EBEiQAAKIcviGNkQqyi_n4rvpVkO_R1pSJg8s0F3xegCCYJbqT0o8aArHb8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
