I am an idiot.

This is not news to most.

I updated my Macbook Pro to Sierra without thinking about the consequences.

On the upside, I can now see the videos that people embed in their posts on this site...so, yay!

On the downside, I was running PT 11.3.1...and now it's broken.

I'm in the process of working out how badly I'm going to get stung by Avid...

It appears that I have no option but to go to version 12 with this OS.

Joy.

Then I need to figure out which of my plugins are now broken.

Ah me...

Life's rich tapestry and all that bollocks.

So...in the spirit of "if you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning"...consider this the horrible warning to the unsuspecting.

Cheers,
Tim

I did the same thing Tim, but you can go back. Search for how to uninstall Sierra and you'll find instructions on what to do. Apparently it's a very common issue (people regretting the installation of Sierra).

Or embrace 12.7?
I know it is pricey  to upgrade but it really is a good one.
The plug in compatibility system works pretty well too.

Yesterday I upgraded my Macbook Air to Sierra 10.12.5.  Most things so far still seem to be working, thankfully.  I'll know a lot more in the next few days.  For the first time in months I can see the videos linked in posts.  And surfing this forum seems more responsive so far.

For me - yes to the former, not really to the latter.

Anyway, to finish the story...once I navigated my way through the utterly awful Avid website, US$299 got me upgraded to PT12.7...with another $99 to cough up every year.

All of my plugins survived - Waves, Exponential, Boz Digital, Soundtoys - and that is the big relief.

Cheers,
Tim
