Yes. It's our job to scrutinize things in absurdum until we find ANY kind of difference regarding anomalities. And then we pick the one that seemed to be a bit better, and carry on.

Educated choices.

This goes for everything else as well, EQ, compression, monitors, converters etc. The day we end this kind of behavior is either the day we stopped trying to improve audio or the day when we finally figured it all out.

I don't think one will ever figure it all out, though.

Ah the importance of doctors in rock 'n roll.  How would we survive love (or lust) without them.

I used to use POW-R1 quite a bit but now use  MBIT+

Dave is the former Chief Mastering Engineer of A&M Studios, and has been featured in Billboard, Mix Magazine, Music Connection, Surround Professional & EQ Magazine.
He has mastered (to name but a few of his great clients) Black Sabbath, Madonna. No Doubt, Sarah Brightman, Joe Cocker, The Police, Mötley Crüe, Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden, Bruce Springsteen, Luther Vandross, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Linkin Park, Sting, Weezer...and so many others.  AND he has this amazing credit within his resume...none other than Spinal Tap!
Currently Dave operates his own independent Mastering facility, Collins Audio.

Yeah, but besides that what has he done?

There is probably nothing that will affect the final sound less than the type dither applied in mastering.  Yet, it is the subject of massive amounts of text and serious confusion/mis-information about how it works and the basic concepts behind it.
I'm not sure what caused this confusion, but there is plenty to go around.

HAHAHAHA! lol.. hey Dave... it's Nicholas Iris from Maui... You have been so professional with me, I started to worry about cracking all those jokes... and started to worry if perhaps you had golden ears, but zero sense of humor. Very crucial in my choice of mastering engineers, man. I guess you pass!
So pleased to find out you are actually a funny dude, and been perhaps enjoying all my prankish and unprofessional ways this whole time.
Good on yer, mate!
Did you get my novel of mastering notes yet? Best bits yet man. Including the revenge of the return of the son of FrankenBass.

Dave Collins RULES!
