Heard Jon with the Thad & Mel Big Band. I think he was 19 or 20. One of those guys born to play lead.
Started channeling Diz later. Wonderful then, too.

This didn't totally floor me, but it definitely got stuck in my head for a long time.  It's not my usual sort of thing - it's totally 80's synthpop-influenced, but somehow it's really compelling.  The melody, the arrangement, the natural-sounding vocals.  For being synth-y, it sounds very natural somehow.
