thank you! i have to admit i am quite pleased to be a "mysterious formation".

while i'm celebrating, here's what i've done lately, a remix of a friend's song, which you can listen to in all its 320kbps glory here:

Hey, thanks!  We get that kind of comment a lot, so there must be something to it!  Maybe it's the Rick 12-string...

one of my other online hangouts does a monthly tribute series, covers of a different artist each month. this month it was U2......and i am a big fan, the edge is My Hero....sooooo i decided to cover this:

and i wanted to try and cop as much of it as closely as i could. i got a friend to be bono, and i spent every spare minute i had the last couple weeks pretending to be edge, larry, adam, flood, robbie adams, and howies B and weinberg.

in the end, mine sounds like a kid's toy compared to theirs, but it was a really fun challenge and i learned a lot. A LOT!

mine's here: https://prfmonthlytributeseries.bandcamp.com/track/mofo

i wouldn't mind taking a few hours and fixing that mix up, but whatever, i made the deadline, and i think i've probably listened to that song enough times at this point.

in a perfect world the edge would hire me as his Overdub Coordinator or something. i'd earn my keep.

Good job! I can't say I was too familiar with the song before hand. Theirs is maybe a little more aggressive in letting some of the sonics be almost grating. Maybe the volume level of youtube is higher, not sure.

you guys sure are hard to impress.

Most of the time I have some other music I'm working on going when I browse the forum. I rarely check out audio from the site. Nothing personal. I'm sure many others do the same.

OK so here is the latest set of lyrics for my duo "Bitchy and Cranky, The Two Hanks"

The Rules of the Road
Lyrics by Norman Glowach April 06, 2016

An old cowpoke he told me
About three rules of the road
Now for these I can’t take credit
But they’ve served me well you know

The first rule it’s a gooder
When you’re travelling around in life
Always keep your eyes peeled
For that international sign

You should never pass up a washroom
In the later stages of life
Never pass up a washroom
Your bladder don’t need the strife

The second rule is a reminder
For when your penis is erect
A stiffy, a boner, a hard on
Is something to never neglect

You should never waste a hard on
Who knows how many you get?
Never waste a hard on
You’ll feel a lot better I bet

The third rule is kinda messy
But one you should take to heart
Although it’s fun to make noises
I can tell you it’s not fun to shart

You should never trust a fart
Sometimes they’re more than a sound
Never trust a fart
And your panties or shorts won’t be brown

OK it's cold here

How long did it take you to record this?

pretty much every spare minute of the last three weeks. which weren't all that many cause work's been busy. i spent hours just practicing the bassline and still had to record it 30bpm slower. one take though haha!

That's funny, the bass part really stood out! I was thinking "hot licks!".

@spiritwalker, that reminds me of this classic:

Here I lay,
(all) brokenhearted
tried to shit
but only farted.

yeah. no. haha!

the picking part was no problem (i grew up metal), but the chromatic run at the end of the line was hard to fret cleanly, was a weird fingering, not anything i'd normally play.

Similar sediment for sure ;)

I've heard it as;

Here I sit brokenhearted
Paid a dime and only farted

Maybe it's a regional thing

OK it's cold here

last month's U2 cover was declared "the winner", as the victor i got to pick which artist we covered this month, and i picked my childhood heroes gone far astray metallica. i did a cover of their cover of blitzkrieg's "blitzkrieg" (that sentence will always crack me up).

the U2 cover was tons and tons of work, this one was actually FUN. i can't shred like i could as a kid, but i managed a pretty credible solo, and i think teenage me would be proud of this.

it's entertaining, click it already:

was just reminded of this today....a friend took a recording of the last note fugazi ever played and made a piece out of it. i mastered it for him and while his version was terrific, i thought it would be even more terrific at half speed. and i was right. i give you 16 minutes and 43 seconds of total gloriousness:
